Summary
The Logistics Freight Coordinator manages shipment scheduling and rating across transportation modes (Truckload, Less-than-Truckload, Assets, Parcel), ensuring timely delivery while negotiating carrier rates. They coordinate routes, track shipments, process documentation, and maintain relationships with internal teams and vendors. The role involves learning shipping processes, staying updated on freight market trends, and contributing to process improvements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Schedule and rate the movement of shipments with carriers (via TL, LTL, Assets, and Parcel) to the assigned origin and/or destination points and follow up to ensure timely arrival negotiating rates with local carriers
- Developing knowledge of the shipping process and government regulations through cross training with other team members
- Coordinate and work closely with appointed field contacts to ensure common objectives are met, support the company to achieve corporate goals while providing recommendations of continuous process improvements
- Create and supervise routes for multi-stop truck loads
- Communicate with asset and third party drivers for tracking and tracing shipments
- Communicate with customers for tracking and tracing shipments
- Processing of documentation for the freight
- Developing and maintaining an excellent working relationship with internal departments and/or vendors
- Developing basic negotiation skills
- Maintain knowledge of current freight market across the US
- Communicating customer/carrier issues or changes to management
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and freight tracking software to monitor shipments and optimize logistics processes
- Resolve logistical challenges, such as delays or routing issues, through effective problem-solving and decision-making
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor's and Associate DegreeinBusiness/Administration, Education, Management, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, Associates, Sciences, Technical, General Education High level of computer literacy, to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- 1-2 years of experience in logistics or freight coordination preferred; knowledge of TL, LTL
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with others

During the performance of his/her work duties regularly lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as removing materials from shipping containers.
