Nature of Work
The Education Manager oversees the Educational Initiatives and Educational Compact in Miami Beach, managing administrative, supervisory, and professional duties related to youth and adult educational programs. This role involves collaborating with City committees, educational institutions, and agencies to identify service gaps, plan programs, and establish relationships for current and future initiatives.
Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties
- Manages all educational programs for various age groups and special needs individuals
- Identifies and meets educational needs through internships, scholarships, afterschool programs, and more
- Monitors program quality and effectiveness, ensuring they meet Citywide vision and values
- Researches and secures funding for programs, including grants and partnerships
- Develops and revises program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance
- Evaluates program effectiveness and implements new outcome measures
- Supports the Chief Education Officer and participates in committees and task forces
- Recruits, interviews, trains, and evaluates staff and instructors
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with MDCPS, universities, and other agencies
- Manages City Internship program in partnership with various City departments and agencies.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field, and considerable experience (5-7 years) identifying, establishing or monitoring educational programs or services. Some (2-3 years) must have been at a supervisory level.
Physical Requirements
- The work is typically performed in an office, sitting at a desk or table, while intermittently standing or stooping, walking, kneeling, reaching, carrying and climbing
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment, such as, but not limited to computer terminal and handheld electronic device
- Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone, computer, and personal contact
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
