Job Description
As the Director of Distribution, you’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of our distribution strategy and execution through our 3PL partner. This role is critical to ensuring seamless order fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency as we scale. You will be the key liaison between our internal teams and our 3PL, owning the relationship, managing KPIs, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the brand experience is preserved through every shipment.
3PL & Distribution Oversight
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with our 3PL provider, holding them accountable to SLAs and operational KPIs.
- Oversee fulfillment operations across all outbound channels: eCommerce/DTC, B2B/wholesale, and future expansions.
- Conduct regular business reviews and scorecarding with the 3PL, identifying opportunities for efficiency and service improvement.
- Support successful new product launches, seasonal peaks, and promotional campaigns through strong distribution planning.
- Oversee returns processing in partnership with the 3PL, ensuring timely restocking, dispositioning, and clear communication with Customer Experience and Inventory teams.
Outbound Shipping & Carrier Management
- Own outbound shipping strategy and execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of orders.
- Manage relationships with parcel and freight carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, LTL, etc.) either directly or via 3PL.
- Define and optimize shipping methods, service levels, and routing logic to improve speed and cost efficiency.
- Monitor carrier performance metrics such as on-time delivery, claims rate, and customer complaints.
- Resolve escalated shipping issues (lost packages, delays, damages) in collaboration with 3PL and Customer Experience teams.
- Collaborate with Planning and channel heads to forecast outbound volume and adjust carrier/service strategies accordingly.
- Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and compliance for all outbound shipments (domestic and international).
Inventory & Systems Integration
- Ensure high levels of inventory accuracy within the 3PL facility and across integrated systems (ERP, WMS, OMS), driving alignment through cycle counts, root cause analysis, and process audits.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, fulfillment rates, and order flow to ensure seamless end-to-end execution.
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline outbound shipping processes.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead contract negotiations and rate reviews with 3PL and outbound carriers to ensure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and alignment with service level expectations.
- Lead cost-saving initiatives in outbound freight and fulfillment operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align logistics operations with brand and customer experience standards.
- Stay current on industry trends in shipping tech, carrier services, and customer delivery expectations.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in logistics, distribution, or supply chain, including at least 3 years managing outbound shipping and 3PL relationships.
- Strong experience with parcel and freight shipping operations, including rate negotiations and service level management.
- Familiarity with ERP and WMS platforms (e.g., NetSuite).
- Proven track record of improving shipping cost-efficiency and delivery speed.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related experience showing career progression.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000 base + bonus
