Machine Learning Research Intern - Summer/Fall 2025
Ensemble is offering a research internship for juniors, seniors, and grad students who want real-world experience contributing to open-source ML tooling and authorship-creditable research. This internship is unpaid.
⚠️ See Below For All Application Requirements
🚀
Accepted applicants will have their submitted projects shared and amplified on social media by our team, network, and investors (including Salesforce Ventures, M13, and others).
Additionally, ALL applicants will receive feedback on their application project following the submission deadline.
Ensemble is a seed-stage ML infrastructure startup focused on practical, open-source advancements in model size, multimodal capability, and inference efficiency.
Our flagship project, NdLinear, helps shrink and accelerate neural networks with minimal or no loss in accuracy via a direct replacement of the linear layer (paper 🔗 https://arxiv.org/abs/2503.17353 )
Your Role Will Include
- Assisting senior ML engineers with experiments and benchmarks
- Running and documenting research case studies using NdLinear
- Testing new features and contributing to product feedback cycles
- Supporting paper writing and public releases where applicable
🚨
For you application to be considered, you must complete all of the following:
⭐️ Star NdLinear on GitHub: https://github.com/ensemble-core/NdLinear
📊 Create a small project using NdLinear on an open-source dataset:
- This can be a benchmark comparison (e.g., try replacing nn.Linear layers in a model with NdLinear and see performance/parameter difference), or a more creative use case you care about.
- This is the most important part of the application, thus reasonable detail/rigor will be both noticed and appreciated.
📩 Send the following to internship@ensemblecore.ai
by the deadline, May 15th 2025 8am Pacific Time:
- Your GitHub handle / a link to your profile
- Your resume
- Your NdLinear project (as a Colab notebook, GitHub repo, or kaggle submission)
We’re looking for curiosity, clarity, and initiative—not specific credentials. If accepted, you'll gain authorship opportunities, experience in cutting-edge ML research, and a chance to work with a sharp, mission-driven team.
