Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is responsible for strategically executing the operations function, including planning, scheduling, manufacturing, quality, safety, and security across all facility operations.
Responsibilities:
- Participate with senior leadership in developing and formulating long- and short-range plans, policies, programs, budgets, and objectives.
- Develop scalable operational strategies to support growth, profitability, and innovative goals.
- Build and mentor high-performing teams across operations, including succession planning and leadership development. Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and performance.
- Actively manage the Manufacturing, Manufacturing Support Services, Quality Control, Logistics, and Safety functions.
- Oversee manufacturing and quality processes to ensure compliance with documented procedures and industry standards.
- Develop and implement manufacturing policies and programs to maintain competitive positioning and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Direct and monitor department managers to achieve manufacturing and safety goals.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to manage key operational performance indicators and drive improvement initiatives.
- Manage overhead costs to maintain a competitive cost base.
- Strengthen the Continuous Improvement program to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee Capital Expenditure projects to optimize investments and ensure projected returns.
- Establish, implement, and maintain production standards.
- Lead the operational aspects of ERP system upgrades to improve processes and controls.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure all operational employees meet competency expectations.
- Establish a succession plan for key operational roles.
- Maintain robust Inventory Management practices to optimize working capital and prevent obsolescence, coordinating with Purchasing and Finance teams.
- Meet internal audit and compliance standards with OSHA and Insurance Companies.
- Maintain awareness of quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies, reporting concerns as necessary.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- Track record of driving operational transformation and cost improvement initiatives.
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment of 220 to 250 employees, in a process-oriented environment.
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience.
- Proven leadership skills in achieving both short-term objectives and long-term goals through team management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems. NetSuite preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required. Must be authorized to work in the US without
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Quality Management and Assurance:
- Develop quality strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Plans and oversees internal quality review processes.
- Supports quality control systems with appropriate technology, procedures, and resources.
- Establishes quality standards and advises senior leadership on quality issues.
Safety And Security
- Develops and implements health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Leads preventive and contingency planning for workplace safety.
Planning and Organizing:
- Defines objectives, priorities, and strategies for operations.
- Monitors programs, tracks progress, and optimizes resource allocation.
- Secures necessary resources to support strategic goals.
Integrity and Communication:
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Develops ethical standards sensitive to diverse global environments.
- Establishes effective communication strategies to ensure alignment and transparency.
Performance Management:
- Develop performance measures that align with business objectives.
