SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the department. This person will create business goals that are consistent with the needs of the business.
The Operations Managers responsibilities will include the supervision of manufacturing and supply chain employees, the handling of the logistics of the organization, managing budget targets and maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
This role requires someone who is structured, has an organized approach, is a strong leader and has excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Duties And Responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations
- Direct responsibility for Production, Purchasing, Production Control, Stockroom, Ship/Receive and Facilities.
- Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the manufacturing team supports strategic initiatives.
- Manage Operations to ensure the company’s delivery commitments are met; shipping a quality product on time.
- Ensure that manufacturing personnel are properly trained and that good manufacturing and vacuum practices are adhered to
- Develops and maintains manufacturing documentations for the efficient operations of all manufacturing activities.
- Develops and manages annual manufacturing department budget and operating expenditures
- Reviews Engineering Change Notifications for dispositions and processing through company’s MRP System. EC implementation
- Configuration management on new orders. Ensure that BOMs get entered into P2K in a correct and timely fashion.
- Follow and Improve upon current Quality practices with regards to production and supplier quality
- Track competencies of team members and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the overall objectives.
Materials
- Design, validate and implement improvements to the procurement and WO modules of the MRP system. Maintain and improve on supply chain systems, policies, procedures
- Ensure that information is accurate as it gets entered into P2000; BOMs, lead times, quantity
- Assist Purchasing in maintaining supplier base. Approve new suppliers. May perform visits/audits on key suppliers. Replace non-performing suppliers.
- With Purchasing, Create and maintain a supplier Performance Metric. Manage suppliers based on these KPIs. Add new suppliers based on business needs and supplier performance. Take corrective measures on underperforming suppliers. Report monthly
- Oversee supplier negotiations, contracts, agreements, and preferred vendor status for controlled and non-controlled items
- Operate the Company’s ERP/MRP system to purchase, receive and issue parts, create work orders and retrieve part and assembly information. Ensure accuracy of information
- Maintain inventory levels for Production components using Sales Orders, Forecasts and business needs to make volume purchase decisions.
- Manage stockroom maintaining accurate inventory balances with minimum obsolescence.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises personnel in Buyers, Planners, Production, Stockroom Ship/Receive in support of manufacturing
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree from a four-year college or University in related discipline, and
- Five plus years’ related experience
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written formats
- Experience in materials planning, production control, purchasing, forecasting and/or master scheduling
Skills And Abilities
- Working knowledge of integrated systems to include electronics and all mechanical assemblies
- Working knowledge of fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, schematics, BOMs, manufacturing documentation systems, and other related material
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience working within both a team environment and independently
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to collect, interpret technical data and turn into corrective actions
- Must have strong analytical skills
- Must be able to interrelate well with personnel at all levels and possess good oral and written English communication skills
- Ability to operate a Windows® based computer workstation with MS Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
WORK ENVIRONMENT And PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation
- The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
- The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions
