Job Purpose
Responsible for the region’s overall supply chain strategy and execution including supply planning, and inventory optimization and support of sourcing process. Drive S&OP maturity and proactively manage the inventory planning process, with a focus on optimizing inventory and minimizing costs. Provides thought leadership and develops talent across the regional branch locations while leading a team of individuals who are focused on the inventory planning process. Oversees the development and execution of negotiations, contract development, financial tracking, and provides thought leadership and develops talent across the branch locations. Drive improved processes, reduced costs, and optimized inventory while meeting or exceeding the quality, delivery, and service expectations of Berlin Packaging and its Customers
Key Accountabilities:
Manage & Develop Others
- Recruit and hire employees who meet the dynamic needs of Berlin Packaging.
- Coach and mentor employees with a focus on enhancing their overall skills.
- Provide clear direction along with a level of accountability which generates superior results.
- Promote a continuous improvement mode of operation; readily challenge all employees to take individual and group performance to the next level.
Spend Analysis & Cost Management
- Lead cost reduction initiatives across all branches.
- Define and execute rollout of cost savings for all new and existing opportunities.
- Coach management team on training buyers and sourcing professionals on world class tactics and strategies for negotiating an optimal contract/agreement.
- Develop spend analysis methods to identify margin enhancement opportunities.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and develop negotiation strategies focused on improving our competitive position in the marketplace.
- Oversee negotiated pricing, terms, and other contractual matters with regional suppliers.
- Leverage volume to provide cost-effective solutions while working with operations team in maintaining optimal inventories.
Project Management & Sourcing
- Helps facilitate sourcing process and partner with regional sales leaders and other project teams to resolve potential unmet sourcing needs.
- Develop industry knowledge and insights to be a resource for new category sourcing needs.
Supplier Development & Performance Improvement
- Partner with other Supply Chain leaders in identifying key suppliers, opportunities, and relationships to drive optimal execution at a competitive cost.
- Lead regional sourcing team on the development of key suppliers to maintain relationships which offer a mutually beneficial partnership.
- Actively develop and communicate the supplier strategies across all regional branches.
- Offer creative solutions to problems and conflict management when needed.
- Effectively manage supplier performance by developing and implementing appropriate corrective actions with the branch management teams and sourcing teams.
- Routinely meet with current suppliers to bring new and improved product solutions forward.
- Focus on developing new suppliers as improved performance or alternative solutions are required.
Business Processes and Systems
- Recommend and innovate new business processes and procedures that are focused on improving efficiencies within our organization.
- Utilize, modify, enhance, and communicate existing systems where applicable.
- Recommend new systems and opportunities that enhance ROI and TCO reductions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field; MBA preferred but not required
- 7+ years of supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Demonstrated success building winning teams, developing leadership talent, and creating/sustaining a high-performance culture.
- Strategic thinker, able focus on long-term strategic improvements while executing short-term goals.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict management skills; can influence without authority and partner across functions.
- Excellent problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional business and financial acumen; demonstrates subject matter expertise of Berlin Packaging’s business, products, customers, and suppliers.
- Model the Berlin Values and serve as a champion for The Berlin Culture as defined in the employer and employee portions of the T-Chart.
- Is flexible; seeks out opportunities for continuous improvement and new ways of working.
- Technologically savvy.
- CPSM certification preferred, but not required.
