Project Manager and lead exciting projects that focus on the development of cutting-edge space systems and technologies! In this pivotal role, you'll coordinate project activities across diverse teams, ensuring we stay on track with timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Work closely with engineers and various stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that not only meet our customers' needs but also propel our company's vision into the future.
This role will primarily be based in Umbra's Arlington, VA office, but we are open to considering hybrid applicants located in the VA/DC/MD area.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Coordination & Support:
- Plan and coordinate activities to support deliverables in support of program- and portfolio-level strategy.
- Coordinate functions across the portfolio, ensuring timeliness responding to customer needs.
- Data Management & Reporting:
- Develop and present reports and metrics to customers.
- Maintain dashboards and utilize data collection techniques to monitor program performance for internal stakeholders.
- Identify trends and opportunities for program execution improvement using data analysis.
- Process Optimization:
- Provide recommendations to optimize program execution and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support strategic planning meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Documentation & Quality Control:
- Ensure all changes in programs and outcomes are thoroughly documented.
- Perform data validation and implement quality control measures to maintain program integrity.
- Stakeholder Support:
- Represent the portfolio at cross-functional working group meetings.
- Assist in onboarding customers, guiding them through best practices for utilizing products and services.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support to portfolio customers.
- Special Projects:
- Support special projects, including customer demonstrations of products and services and novel proposals.
- Assist program management in developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
- Other professional duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Proven ability to manage technical development and R&D projects successfully
- Strong analytical skills with experience in developing and tracking metrics, KPIs, and dashboards.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Desired Qualifications
- 4+ years of program management experience within U.S. Government contracts or aerospace/defense domain
- Active Secret or TS/SCI security clearance
- Experience with business development on USG captures and proposal support
- High-agency approach to work with demonstrated ability to build, plan, and execute complex tasks with minimal oversight
- Direct experience in space industry program planning and execution; ideally 2+ years in program management supporting USG contracts or the aerospace/defense sector
- Willing to travel CONUS up to 25% of the time
- Familiarity with the U.S. Government's DoD, IC, and Civil customers, as well as SAR and RF space payloads
- Familiarity with SAFe, PMI, or similar frameworks

This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role's function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $120,000- $150,000.
