Position Title: Director of Operations
Location: Tampa, FL – Onsite Role
Summary:
This leadership opportunity is ideal for a dynamic operations professional with a passion for supply chain and warehousing, team development, and driving performance across multiple disciplines. The Director of Operations will oversee critical business functions ensuring excellence in areas of warehousing operations, material and fleet management, and strategic planning. The role demands someone who is both strategic and execution-focused, with a strong grasp of operational systems and a deep commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Areas of Accountability:
Strategic Operations Planning
- Align logistics and distribution planning with the company’s growth roadmap and broader financial goals.
- Explore new technologies and industry practices that can help transform the supply chain operation.
- Monitor regulatory and market developments to identify potential operational risks or emerging opportunities.
Warehouse Execution and Team Culture
- Lead planning and execution of warehouse activities including receiving, storage, and outbound shipping.
- Oversee layout planning, space utilization, and equipment optimization to improve productivity.
- Track key delivery and fulfillment metrics, implement action plans to resolve issues
Operational Systems and Business Tools
- Develop deep fluency with internal tech platforms, including warehouse and transport management systems.
- Lead the evaluation and deployment of system enhancements to support scale and operational agility.
- Empower staff by mentoring internal "power users" capable of managing tools autonomously.
Inventory and Fulfillment Oversight
- Design and implement inventory monitoring systems aimed at minimizing losses
- Launch a proactive cycle counting initiative to validate stock accuracy
- Create protocols to identify and reduce inventory damage and eliminate
Fleet Strategy and Transport Optimization
- Direct operational and financial strategy for fleet, including vehicle usage, schedules, and DOT compliance.
- Manage fleet procurement cycles and maintenance budgets to support business continuity.
- Define and monitor KPIs around driver performance, fuel consumption, and equipment reliability.
Team Development & Performance Management
- Lead and grow a cross-functional team of warehouse and distribution professionals
- Set and review individual goals, offering regular feedback, recognition, and advancement opportunities.
- Champion employee engagement through consistent coaching, safety training, and performance feedback.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business; advanced degree preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of experience in a fast-paced logistics or distribution environment, with deep knowledge of warehouse and fleet operations.
- Background in implementing lean practices and driving continuous process improvements; certification in Six Sigma or Lean methods is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor large teams with a focus on results, accountability, and professional growth.
- Familiarity with logistics platforms such as WMS and TMS, and the ability to leverage these systems for business insights and efficiency.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and a strategic mindset geared toward innovation and operational excellence.
