LOGISTICS MANAGER
Job Summary
The Logistics Manager will oversee logistics operations for a manufacturing plant across multiple shifts, ensuring efficient inbound receiving and outbound shipping. This role requires a proactive problem solver who can optimize logistics processes, drive cost management initiatives, and implement continuous improvements. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on leadership to enhance overall logistics performance.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics and transportation, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of transportation modes, including Truckload (TL), Less Than Truckload (LTL), Intermodal, and Expedited shipping.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in shipping, receiving, cost management, and process optimization.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including hourly associates.
- Strong problem-solving skills, capable of breaking down complex issues into actionable solutions.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Logistics Management Systems (LMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct and lead meetings, drive decisions, and work independently.
Soft Skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to balance independent work with cross-functional collaboration.
- Positive attitude and willingness to challenge the status quo to drive improvements.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead multi-shift teams to ensure smooth and efficient shipping and receiving operations.
- Analyze and optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in logistics operations.
- Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance and drive corrective actions where necessary.
- Provide leadership in resolving operational and tactical issues that arise.
- Support strategic planning initiatives related to logistics and supply chain management.
- Ensure timely and clear communication of logistics-related issues and resolutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to mitigate recurring challenges.
