As the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, including purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse management. You will lead a team of professionals, including purchasing department staff, and warehouse team members, to ensure seamless coordination and optimization of materials flow throughout the organization. This job is located in Millington, MD.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Skills: Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager, or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong understanding of supply chain principles, procurement strategies, and inventory control practices. Experience with Oracle ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
- Customer Focus: Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
What You’ll Do
Procurement Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-efficient acquisition of goods and services.
- Monitor market trends and supplier conditions to anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Support complex or high-value purchase orders as needed.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure reliability and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Manage inventory levels to align with production demand while minimizing carrying costs.
- Oversee inventory control processes, including cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
- Forecast demand in coordination with production and sales teams.
Cost Optimization
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for significant purchasing decisions.
- Monitor and report on procurement savings and financial impact.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
- Assess procurement-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct periodic audits to maintain process integrity and compliance.
Team Leadership
- Read, mentor, and develop the supply chain and procurement team.
- Set clear goals and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with departments such as Production, Finance, Engineering, and Logistics to align supply chain strategies with organizational needs.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure timely availability of required materials.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement and supply chain functions.
- Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on supply chain performance, cost savings, and improvement initiatives.
