The Role

We are seeking a passionate and visionary Director of Brand & PR to elevate our global presence, amplify our voice in the higher education and research landscape, and lead a new era of brand storytelling. Requirements:

Define and evolve JoVE’s global brand strategy across channels to align with business goals, user needs, and market trends.
Lead JoVE’s PR strategy and external communications, establishing our thought leadership in the scientific and academic community.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Editorial, Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to ensure brand consistency and clarity.
Identify and activate opportunities to showcase JoVE in higher education, including conferences, media relations, partnerships, and influencer engagement.
Leverage market insights, competitor analysis, and user feedback to continuously refine messaging and positioning.
Stay up to date on emerging technologies and trends in marketing, especially AI, and apply them to improve brand performance and campaign innovation.
Create a proactive press calendar and manage relationships with media outlets, journalists, and external PR firms.

Requirements:

7+ years of experience in Brand, PR, or Communications, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience in higher education publishing, edtech, or related sectors.
A strong understanding of multichannel marketing strategies (email, web, social, events, media).
Demonstrated success in leading high-impact brand or PR campaigns across global markets.
Awareness of the latest trends in AI and its applications in marketing and communications.
Excellent storytelling, writing, and editing skills—with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging narratives.
Knowledge of trending tools, platforms, and technologies in media, communications, and digital marketing.
A hands-on, collaborative mindset—ready to lead but also roll up your sleeves when needed.
